Now then, Cole turned 16 months about two weeks ago. He is like a different person now. Actually, he's like a person now, no longer a baby. I believe the term for that is Toddler. Yes, Cole is a full blown Toddler. We have walking, almost running, tantrums, and speedy development. Cole can no longer be called a baby. Funny thing is, he calls everyone else babies. Even his little friends at church who are 2 and 4 weeks OLDER than him. Whatever Cole, you're still my baby. (Or "beebee", depending on who you're talking to.)
What can Cole say: [I will type his word first and the 'real' word after it unless he says the word correctly]
Mommy, Daddy, Nana (actually became Nanny this week), Bibo-Bible, yum and yummy, bol-ball, up, wawa-water, poon-spoon, ow (furrowed brow included), boom, bummo-bummer, elbow, yeyo-yellow, bayoo-balloon, beeb-bib, buh buh-button, beebee-baby, appo-apple, ba-banana, jeez-cheese, geesu-Jesus, uh oh, bye-bye, wower-flower, Elmo, brock blee-broccoli, be-pea.
What sounds can Cole mimic:
broom broom, beep, ambulance noise, Mommy's elephant noise, lion, monkey, pig, cow, sheep, howl, owl, cockadoodledoo.
What can Cole sign:
more, all done (finished), milk, please, thank you, help, train, cracker, hungry.
What does Cole know:
The color yellow-can say it and identify things that are yellow. If asked what color Mommy's (yellow) shirt is, he will say "yellow". When we drive down the street he will yell "yeyo!" as we pass the stop lights or yellow balloons.
Red and blue-can only show something that is red or blue when asked. He cannot say it yet.
The letter B. When we show him the letter B he says "BEEEEEEE". :)
Cole can follow directions (when he chooses to). He helps me clean up, throw things away, knows where to go when we tell him "go to kitchen, mommy's room, Cole's room," etc.
Cole loves music and will point to the radio or CD player and sing "ah".
Body parts-eyes, ears, nose, tongue, teeth, brain, hair, eyebrows (no joke), heart, hands, fingers, elbows, knees, feet, toes, appendix (also no joke) belly button, bottom, he can also find his daddy's freckles and shoulders.
When asked "Cole, how old are you?" he replies by holding up his pointer finger (his thumb also sticks out but hey, give the kid some credit) :)
What does Cole like to do:
Read books, play with blocks (mostly knock over the towers we build for him, listen to music, try to play music, dance, run around while being chased, throw things, play catch, play cars, use anything electronic whenever he can-hold on to your cell phones!
We don't know what most kids can do at this age but we are proud of Cole and feel that he is a very smart little guy. He catches on to things so quickly and is really impressing us. I don't want to sound like those parents who say, "my kid can do this, this and this, he must be a genius" but we are truly amazed by Cole sometimes. I'm also not putting all this on here to brag. I want to be able to remember what Cole was like 10 or 15 years from now when my memory is full of other things. Having this blog is a way to capture Cole's life forever.
One other thing I also want to remember is this: Cole is 16 months old, he still wears 12 month tops and is mostly wearing 6 month bottoms (although he is moving into 9 months for long pants). He is now wearing a size 4.5 Wide shoe. :) At his 15 month check up Cole weighed 20 lb 7oz and was 30 inches tall. I'm going to guess he's only gained a few ounces but may have grown another inch or two. He seems to have shot up a bit.
Here is Cole with Dug at 16 months. Adrien had to hide behind him and hold him in place because he wouldn't stay still!! :)
Correction... he can also locate his "boogers".
ReplyDeleteAnd here's my "Yahoooo!!" to add to the celebration! I love that little Cole-man! He IS one smart little guy!!! :)
as well as his peepee but Katie thought people didn't need to know that.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Good call keeping it discrete. And boobies. No one needs to know he knows that too. (I am so sorry, Kate...he started it.)
