Adrien and I decided that because Cole loves bathtime so much he would probably enjoy the pool. We have a community pool just a few minutes from our house so I got a pool pass for myself (Cole is free) and Adrien pays for a day pass whenever he wants to join us. Let me tell you how right we were! Cole absolutely adores the pool. In the beginning he would point to it and say "ba" (bath). Now he can say "bool". :) Just last week we had a miserably hot day. I was determined to keep Cole indoors. Around 2:00 Cole started pointing outside and saying "wawa" (water). I offered him his water bottle which he pushed away and again pointed outside and said wawa. I finally asked him if he wanted to go to the pool. He stood up, walked to the front door, and tried to open it. Needless to say, after his effort in communicating his desire, I took him to the pool. :)
Another activity Cole has come to enjoy is cleaning. He started stealing wipes out of his diaper bag, tissues from their boxes, or dropped pieces of paper and he would wipe table tops, the front of the fridge, even the wall! I took a video of him walking to share on the blog and he actually starts cleaning in the video-watch for it. :)
At 14 months Cole was able to identify a couple more body parts, he learned please, thank you, hungry, and train in sign language, and he added a few more words to his vocabulary. I'm trying to do a better job keeping track of when he says or signs new things because everything is starting to blur together. It amazes me how quickly Cole catches on to things now. During his 14th month we taught Cole to throw things in the garbage; I was blown away that we walked right over and threw something in the garbage can after having been shown what to do only once! I try so hard not to sound like one of those parents who insist their child is SO smart or a genius but I must say that there are times Adrien and I are shocked at what Cole can do/say. Maybe he really is SO smart. :)
Dug and Cole at 14 months.
We don't have any water pictures of Cole at the pool. We always take a break and have a snack though. :)
Sitting on Daddy enjoying crackers and water. Look at that belly!
Wow, he's walking! And doing a GREAT job at it too!!! I absolutely love his 14th month photo here with Dug! He's so darn cute!!!
