Chabot Family Blog: Catch Up #2-Birthday

April 10th was Cole's first birthday (can't believe how fast time has gone by). We celebrated in style with a First Birthday party-of course! We invited some family, church friends, and Cole's friends (also from church). We tried to keep it on the smaller side to avoid Cole feeling overwhelmed. Adrien's parents were able to come in from Maine for a couple days to celebrate with us; what a blessing! Our dear friends Bryan and Jayne opened their home for us to have Cole's party there so we didn't have to cram 20 people into our condo. Jayne also took photos for us so we wouldn't have to be stressed about trying to remember to capture each moment.

One of Cole's favorite stories is The Very Hungry Caterpillar so we had a Hungry Caterpillar themed party (mostly thanks to Target for selling the themed paper products). Nana and I came up with a menu based on the book and I even found a cupcake cake from this amazing blog! You may be able to tell from the photos that Cole was not all that interested in his smash cupcake. In fact, the bites he ate were the ones Adrien and I tried to feed him. He even didn't like the frosting all over his hand. He was trying to wipe it onto his knee and when that didn't work he reached out for help! I guess we've done well in keeping Cole's taste buds away from the sweet foods. :)
