I haven't forgotten the blog, don't worry. Things have been busy that last three days and I've been short on time to update everyone. I'm also behind on some events (such as Cole's first haircut!!!). I haven't had a chance to upload our photos from the camera to the computer but I wanted to write a birthday post for Cole before too much time has passed.
I must admit I've been a bit weepy lately. The thought of Cole turning one brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes all last week. I did get teary while singing Happy Birthday to Cole on Sunday but quickly gathered my wits so Cole could do the "smash cake".
I want to use this post as more of a remembrance of where Cole is in life right now. Later I will blog about his party, his doggy photo, and the events before and since Sunday.

Sizes:
Clothing: Tops 12 months, Bottoms 6 or 9 months (depends on brand)
Diapers: 3 Cruisers, 4 Overnights
Shoes: 3.5 Double Wide
Words:
Cole doesn't have too many words at this point, he does seem to know DaDa and MaMa and tries some form of Nandad. We've realized we have a lot of words in our life that begin with B. Cole is very good at "buh". He looks at a ball, books, and bananas and says "buh". :) Although he isn't really talking yet he is getting very good at communicating in other ways. He can wave bye-bye, point to what he wants, push away what he doesn't want, and can get anywhere he wants to go either by crawling, cruising, or pointing.
Personality:
Cole is already very willful. He knows what he wants/doesn't want and will let us know when he isn't pleased. He's beginning temper tantrums already (which is almost comical at this point). At times this willfulness can be very challenging, frustrating, and tiring but the times he's not acting this way make up for it! He is so lovable and happy. It doesn't take much to make Cole smile and even laugh these days. He's beginning to play on his own more but he LOVES to be with people. He is happy to be held to walk around, explore things, or just give a little cuddle. YES! Our cuddler is back. Cole makes us smile and laugh each day by the little things he does. We are so thankful for his loving and sweet spirit.
Food:
Cole will eat ANYTHING we offer him (as long as he can chew it, although I don't offer things I don't think he can chew). He has a special love of bananas for some reason and can eat a whole banana bite after bite right out of the peel. No more cutting bananas for Little Man. He also really enjoys green beans. As I mentioned above though, he will eat anything given to him. Adrien and I can't think of anything he's tasted and spit out or pushed away. I'm sure this will change but for now I am glad to have an 'unpicky' eater given the fact that I am completely the opposite!
Sleep:
Cole sleeps very well these days. This week he's sleeping 7 PM-anywhere between 7 and 8 AM. (Last week he was up between 5:30 and 6:30!!!!) He still naps twice a day, 10-11:15ish and again for an hour in the afternoon anywhere between 2:00 and 4:00.
Interests:
Cole still likes to watch the world outside the window-especially the train. He has a new fascination with airplanes and birds flying overhead. He got an ambulance with lights and sirens for his birthday which appears to be his favorite toy in addition to Frankie the Fish. :) Lights and noise are a sure fire way to peak Cole's interest.
Adrien and I can't believe a year has gone by already. In some ways it is sad but more so we are happy Cole is growing and developing and we are excited to see how he continues to change into a little person rather than a baby. He isn't walking yet but he sure is trying.

Daddy and Mommy love you so dearly. We are so blessed by your presence in our lives. We thank our Lord everyday for the gift of your life in our lives. We pray for you every day too, that you will grow into a Godly man who loves the Lord and loves his family. Cole, we are so thankful for the little boy you are turning into. We love your personality, your crooked smile, your belly laugh, and all your funny facial expressions and noises. Happy birthday Little Man. We love you with all our hearts.
