17 Months-Whoa!

It's crazy to think that next month Cole will be a year and a half old! Saying the number of months old Cole is doesn't have as a big an impact as saying "he's almost a year and a half". Where did the time go? I still remember that little swaddled bundle laying in the sun! I looked at Cole the other day in his jeans, long sleeve t-shirt, and sneakers and thought, "he's a little boy, he's no baby". It makes me sad sometimes, but then I think of all that we're doing now and all that we have to look forward to.

Cole's vocabulary is growing every day. It amazes me how quickly he picks up on words and starts to repeat them in his own way. Just tonight a friend of mine pointed out a pony in one of Cole's books. Cole has never heard that word before but right after Judy said "pony", Cole said it!

Cole is catching on to sign language almost as quickly as his verbal vocabulary! I've decided to just keep adding words to his signing repertoire. Who knows, maybe he'll choose to make ASL (American Sign Language) his second language someday! As of Tuesday, he knew 15 words. As of today, he knows 17. I was able to capture on video his 15 words so I could share this with you. It blew my mind as I was sitting on the floor with flash cards essentially quizzing Cole on his signs. It's one thing for him to come up to me signing hungry or milk but to sit there and go through them all and do them-it was like looking at a little boy instead of a baby!! Wait, been here already. Okay, moving on.
