Ultrasound Day

I don't think I can express in words how much I was looking forward to my ultrasound on Thursday. We made this appointment two months ago and I remember thinking that April seemed like forever away! Thankfully February and March both flew by and ultrasound day quickly approached. I must say we had to have a more detailed ultrasound than is typical at this point in a pregnancy. My doctor has a small concern that the baby's organs may not be developing as they should. I know I should have been more concerned about this aspect of the ultrasound than finding out the gender of our baby; HOWEVER, I am the way I am and so, I hardly thought of the reason we were seeing a specialist for this ultrasound. I just wanted to know: boy or girl! I will admit, somewhat shamefully, that I have been praying for a little girl EVERYDAY since we found out we were expecting. I know, I know, it shouldn't matter! But for me, I have so enjoyed raising Cole thus far and I would've been so happy to have another little boy... there's just something about having a daughter. I know the fun my mom and I have had together and let's face it, that won't happen with a boy! :) I will also add that up to this point there aren't any girl cousins on either side of our families! (Adrien's cousin has a little girl but that's the closest we've come.) And don't even mention the clothes!

That being said-we had our ultrasound on Thursday! We almost didn't because there was a mix up with our appointment but Adrien and I were willing to drive almost an hour away just to get that ultrasound!! (Trust me, I couldn't have waited another day!!) As it turned out, the doctor was not in the office at the time of our ultrasound so we have not had a chance to go over the news of the baby's development. The ultrasound technician (a male who has been doing this since 1975-strangest thing to have a male ultrasound tech) did make a comment that all looks well and the baby is healthy. I realize he may not be at liberty to say any more than that, but it was reassuring nonetheless. We will hear from my doctor this coming week about the ultrasound and I am now anxious to know how the baby is doing!

I decided it would be fun to have a little visual to announce the gender of our baby!! So, for those of you who have somehow not heard the news yet :) we're having a...

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I do apologize but her name is being kept secret at this point in time. We'll see how long that actually lasts since we didn't do so well with keeping Cole's name a secret!) :)

We cannot wait to meet our little GIRL in August!!
