Cole's been on the move ever since he figured out how to cruise along his play pen. He still crawls to get from one location to another but he is mastering the art of pulling up and is cruising anything he can hold onto. This includes walls/sliding glass doors, people, and his toys. We're having a lot of fun watching Cole explore his world from a new perspective. He's still doing well eating his baby food but I've been a bit reluctant to start giving him table food. I've been pushed by a few friends (and Cole's doctor) but we're starting slow. He gets to try things that can easily be mushed either between his tongue and roof of his mouth or with a fork/spoon first. He enjoys eating banana slices cut into quarters, cooked carrots, bread, pasta, and even potatoes. I've also been blending some of our dinners in his baby food blender so he can get accustomed to my cooking. He really enjoys pot roast (that would be beef, carrots, potato, onion, and some gravy all blended together) and pulled pork minus the bun. :) We've also given him some taco meat which he actually seemed to like, macaroni and cheese, and lasagna.
We had Cole's 9 month check up on the 18th of January. Adrien and I were "betting" how much Cole would weigh; we each thought he would be over 20 pounds. Cole actually weighed in at 16 pounds 10 ounces; this is only a pound and 4 ounces more than he weighed at his 6 month check up. This was shocking to me and needless to say made me a but concerned. His doctor urged me to give him more food at each meal (pretty much feed him until he refused food) and to try a couple other things. We did these things per his doctor's request until he vomited his entire dinner down Adrien's shirt and pants. Now we are back to our old food regimen. We attribute Cole's size to genetics. He certainly doesn't look unhealthy as he has chubby cheeks, thigh rolls, and cankles (that would be calves that blend straight into the ankles). I have to remind myself that he is also VERY active right now and am trying not to worry about his weight at this point.
We've been trying to teach Cole some sign language to help us communicate until he can use words. We practice "more please", "all done", "Daddy", and "Mommy". It is taking a while for Cole to pick up on these signs (which is normal) but he is learning some other things like where our books are located, the color blue (only through repetition I'm sure), and, apparently, where snow can be found. Enjoy our new photos and videos.
Cole's 9 month picture with Doggy
Our son, the ham! He was being silly because Nandad gave him a Mohawk.
If you look closely you can see his top teeth. :)
Having fun cruising the coffee table!
This is Cole's favorite thing to do.
He will drop ANYTHING he is playing with to do this! :)
Our Smarty Pants
One afternoon two weeks ago I put Cole down for his nap. I listened to him laugh and talk to himself for 10 minutes before I finally decided to go see what he was up to. I found him standing in the corner of his crib (this was a first)! I put him back on his belly to see if he'd do it again and he did so we ran for the video camera and did it one more time. We lowered his mattress that afternoon but today he did it again! At least now he can't launch himself over the side of this crib but we did have to take his mobile down.
I am so in love with Cole! I love the snow video, your new coat and the fact that Cole can now pull himself up in his crib! (You didn't tell me that!) I LOVE your post! Best blog post yet! :)
