Mommy's Growing Boy

Hello Friends! It's Mommy here. Since Daddy has officially gone back to work it may be up to me to keep this blog updated. We've been informed by some followers that the 1 to 2 week time span between posts is unacceptable! :) So terribly sorry!!!

Cole had his '6 week Wellness Check Up' today (even though he is technically 5 1/2 weeks old). He weighed in at 9 pounds 2 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long. I cannot get over how quickly he gains weight. I think we adults should all be grateful we don't gain weight at a newborn's pace! :)

We've had an eventful last couple of weeks I will attempt to catch you up on. Here goes!

The last weekend in April brought Adrien's parents our way. They came for a four day visit and loved every minute of it. Cole's favorite part was laying on his Pepere's belly! Cole was held almost constantly which has brought on some bad daytime sleep habits, but he was well loved and will never forget it.

The Sunday after the Chabots went home was Mother's Day. Cole had his first trip to Nana and Nandad's house in Illinois. He did a great job during both car trips-he slept the entire way! We had a wonderful brunch with my parents and then came the many visitors. Cole got to meet two of Nana and Nandad's neighbors, part of the Burns family, his "uncle" Eric, and "Aunt" Cristen and "Uncle" Lucas. Oh! AND, the day before Grandma and Pepere came, Uncle Pat stopped by!

Now then, the Monday after Mother's Day, Cole's Grandpa and Grandma Macukas came all the way from Virginia to visit. They didn't get to stay very long so we made the most of it. They were absolutely head over heels for Cole and he definitely felt the same! :)

We've now been visitor free for a few days (one of Adrien's colleagues came to stay for a few days after my dad and Mary left). We are really starting to get a feel for what our "everyday life" is going to be like. It's a lot of sleeping still, and eating of course. However, Cole is a bit more awake everyday and I think we are getting very close to that first true smile. Cole always smiles involuntarily while he is sleeping but I am seeing it more and more. I think his face is warming up for the real thing. Daddy and I can't wait to see it!!

This past Sunday our church had a Baptism Cookout after the Sunday services. A few members of our church were baptised and then we had a great cookout to celebrate. The weather was a little on the cool side that day so we pulled out a sweatsuit we had for Cole. It just so happened to be the outfit we put on him to bring him home from the hospital. Below you will see a picture of Cole on day 2 of his life wearing this outfit and then another one of him in it on Sunday. When we put it on him at the hospital it was ridiculously huge. I almost cried on Sunday when I saw how perfectly it fit him! I am so excited for all the milestones ahead but I do wish my baby would just stay his cut little 6lb 6oz he was when he was born. It's sad and exciting all at the same time just how quickly he is growing.

Here is Cole in his outfit at the hospital. You can't see much but you can tell how big it was based on the hood and the baggy sleeves.

Here it is again at 5 weeks. The hood fit perfectly, as did all the rest of it! :)

This is Cole with his new dog on his 1 month birthday. We will photograph Cole with this doggy each month to see how much he grows! Thank you Grandpa and Grandma for this dog!

  1. Nice job keeping up with the blogging, Katie! Josh had the same little All-Star outfit at that age but I think his said Daddy's All Star. Cole's is perfect for Mommy's Day!!! :) It is amazing how fast they grow and I think that's a great idea to take his picture each month with the doggy! Soon he'll be holding it himself! :) Love you all!!
